PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

I, (Parent Name), in supporting my child's enrolment in Youth Sports Australia, acknowledge that I have read and agree to comply with the above Code of Conduct and will use my best endeavours to ensure my child abides by the Student/Player's Code of Conduct signed by him/her. I accept that breaches of the Codes carry consequences for my child and myself which may result in their expulsion from the Youth Sports Program.

 

I also understand that as only some of the coaches are qualified teachers, there will be a number of training sessions and games where the supervising coach is not a qualified teacher.

Youth Sports Australia Parent Code of Conduct

 

Expectations

 

Youth Sports Australia is dedicated to nurturing young athletes and promoting excellence and enjoyment in sports.

 

As a parent/guardian of a student who will be representing Youth Sports Australia and playing under the auspices of the rules and regulations of the relevant association, you must meet the following requirements in regard to your conduct during any such activity or event:

 

1. Children's Enjoyment:

   - Remember that your child participates in sport for their own enjoyment, not yours.

 

2. Encouragement:

   - Encourage your child to participate, do not force them.

 

3. Efforts Over Results:

   - Focus on your child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.

 

4. Positive Reinforcement:

   - Never ridicule or yell at your child or other children for making a mistake or losing a competition.

 

5. Lead by Example:

   - Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performance and skilful play by all participants.

 

6. Remove Abuse:

   - Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting events.

 

7. Respect Officials:

   - Respect officials' decisions and teach children to do likewise.

 

8. Appreciate Coaches and Teachers:

   - Show appreciation for the coaches and teachers. Without them, your child could not participate.

 

9. Respect and Dignity:

   - Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background, or religion.

 

10. Positive Role Model:

    - Be a positive role model.

 

11. Consequences of Breaches:

    - Understand the repercussions if you breach, or are aware of any breaches of, this code of behaviour.

Parent Contract

 

I hereby support my child's enrolment in Youth Sports Australia. I have read carefully this Code of Conduct, and accept responsibility for complying with it in all respects. I will also use my best endeavours to ensure my child adheres to his/her obligations under the Student/Player's Code of Conduct signed by him/her. I also agree and understand that sanctions may be imposed on my child and myself should either of us breach any aspect of the Codes. These may include:

 

- Warnings, either verbal or in writing,

- Ejection from the field of play / stadium / courts,

- Disciplinary action or exclusion imposed by the program,

- Expulsion from the Youth Sports Program, and/or legal proceedings.

 

I agree that while attending any sporting events (including training sessions) undertaken by my child with Youth Sports Australia, I will adhere to the instructions/directions of the teacher or coach and abide by the Regulations and Rules of the program and the specific sporting association as they apply to me:

 

1.Respectful and Responsible Behaviour:

   - I will act respectfully and responsibly toward the players, coaches, teachers, club officials, and other spectators of all teams. Abusive, insulting, and offensive language or actions are unacceptable.

 

2. Following Directions:

   - I will respect and follow the reasonable directions of teachers, coaching staff, umpires and referees, and club administrators.

 

3. Respecting Facilities and Equipment:

   - I will respect the facilities and equipment of Youth Sports Australia and any clubs which may be utilised by the program and opposing teams.

 

4. Zero Tolerance for Abuse:

   - I understand that verbal abuse and violent behaviour towards any player, teacher, coach, umpire/referee, club official, or other spectator is at all times unacceptable and would make me liable to serious consequences (as is any sexual, racial, and other form of harassment).
